NFL Week 5 Recap

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills

☀️: The Good

My goodness that felt great. Having a legitimate coach, QB, and star WR in Diggs that can go out and beat the best team in the league is just massive and feels amazing.

Drake Maye, what more can we say? This kid is so good. That game winning drive was insane. His throw to Diggs on the game winning drive was one of the best I have ever seen. And it comes in his first career game winning drive on the road against Josh Allen and the undefeated Bills. That’s a career highlight right there.

His stat line in the 2nd half: 13/14 for 184 yards (6/6 for 90 yards in the 4th quarter).

Diggs absolutely balled out and looks like he is back to his old self.

The defense absolutely balled out to get us this win, great job by them. We limited Allen and Cook as much as it is possible to do so. And also forced three turnovers.

Marcus Jones is a playmaker all over the field. We need to get him the ball on offense a couple times a game too.

Andres Borregales had huge game, including his clutch kick. Gotta be happy for him.

I am not going to overreact and act like the Pats are a contender or the best team in the division. They are not and have a long way to go. This game just shows us the future and present are both bright.

⛈️: The Bad

The penalties. We almost gave this game away with stupid penalties.

The fumbles. Stevenson and Gibson need to hold onto the ball.

Speaking of Gibson, we will miss him for the remainder of the year. Hoping he makes a speedy recovery.

We need to take better advantage of the other team’s turnovers.

How much time do you have?

This was the best game the Pats have played since the Brady era. Everything went well in all facets of the game.

There is one guy I absolutely have to shoutout. Marcus Jones had the best game I have ever seen by a punt returner. He was our best player and even though Fox did not give him their player of the game, I will officially announce Marcus Jones as the first ever Wheelhouse Sports Player of the Game (WSPOG).

I could go on and on and on. But I won’t for your sake.

Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Eagles continue to play fantastic all around football. They simply do whatever is needed to win games. Tampa is a great team too. I could see this being the NFC Championship game.

Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs

This game could not have been more perfect for the Chiefs and more terrible for the Ravens. The Chiefs found their offense in a big way and the league should be on notice. Xavier Worthy returning was huge for them and Rashee Rice will be back soon.

The Ravens are falling apart at the seams. They have a great roster but injuries are piling up and threatening their season. Lamar now sustained an injury. We don’t yet know how long it’ll be for, but if it’s even a medium chunk of time, they are screwed.

Lamar Jackson now falls to 1-6 vs Patrick Mahomes. That along with his 3-4 record against Josh Allen makes Lamar 4-7 in the regular season and 0-3 in the playoffs vs the other two best QBs of his era. His regular season and playoff record against all other QBs is 67-20 and 3-2, respectively. He is 6-1 vs Joe Burrow all time, but needs to start beating the Chiefs and Bills.

One last thing with the Ravens. I do not understand how they are handling Derrick Henry’s usage. He’s one of the best backs in the league and him plus Lamar is the best backfield in the league and an absolute weapon. He’s struggled with fumbles, but they need to feed him or else they won’t regain their form.

Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots

The Pats should be able to bounce back in a big way versus the Panthers. I think they beat the Panthers and cover (-5.5).

Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs are dealing with lots of injuries to their star players. I think the Eagles win and cover (-3.5).

Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs

Two great teams who both risk falling to 1-3. I think the Chiefs win and cover (+2.5).

Pittsburgh Steelers @ New England Patriots

⛈️: The Bad

The Pats turned the ball over SIX TIMES (5 TOs and 1 ToD). Two of them at the Pittsburgh 2-yard line. That was the difference today. The Patriots completely fumbled the game away.

Rhamondre Stevenson is just so inconsistent. He’ll have a great game like he did last week, then have two fumbles the next game like he did this week. He even made some more great plays this week, despite fumbling twice. He’s a good player, he just needs to get his fumbling issues solved.

The Pats also gave up a lot of pressure, with five sacks.

☀️: The Good

Outside of turnovers, the Pats dominated in almost every other facet of the game. It is nice that we have actually been in all three games this year and could have won every one of them.

The defense played great, with Robert Spillane leading the way.

I like how aggressive the Pats were going for it on 4th down.

Drake Maye played well, outside of the turnovers. He continues to progress and I think he is the 2nd best QB in his draft class outside of Jayden Daniels.

Hunter Henry continues to be a very solid player for us.

I’ve said it forever and I won’t stop: those red Pat the Patriot jerseys are the best uniforms in sports.

Los Angeles Rams @ Philadelphia Eagles

An absolutely insane game all the way around. The Rams looked like they would win by 50 at one point. Then the Eagles remembered you are allowed to throw the ball and that AJ Brown is on the team. What a game.

Detroit Lions @ Baltimore Ravens

We expected this to be a great game and it delivered. The Lions are so much fun to watch because they play exactly like a fan playing Madden would. I love the aggressiveness and it paid off again. The Ravens fall to 1-2 but are going to be fine.
