Instant Reaction to Micah Parsons Trade

This is one of the most shocking NFL trades I can remember. For the Cowboys to trade a superstar edge rusher who is just entering the prime of his career is mind boggling.

I think it is a terrible idea to trade him. The first round picks they got will likely both be in the 20s or higher because the Packers are a perennial playoff team. And guess what? Best case scenario the Cowboys draft a player… who is just as good as Micah Parsons. And that is unlikely as he is one of the best players at one of the most premium positions in the sport.

This deal really only makes sense if you just blow the whole thing up and trade Dak, CeeDee, and any other player of value and go total rebuild. At this point, they should do exactly that. Including trading the guy they got from the Packers, Kenny Clark (who is a really good player in his own right, but is 29).

Watching the Cowboys documentary shows why it is better to completely rebuild from nothing with a ton of draft picks, rather than let yourself get stuck in the hopeless middle of the pack with nowhere to go.

For the Packers, this is just perfect. I already picked them to make the Super Bowl before and now I feel even better. In the loaded NFC North, this helps them so much.

And good for Micah, getting the largest non-QB deal ever with a four-year, $188 million contract that includes $136 million guaranteed.

These standoffs rarely lead to trades nowadays so it’s exciting to see one happen.
